Why I Became a Coach (and 3 Things I Learned Along the Way)

We all have turning points in our lives - moments where the path we’re on no longer feels right and something inside us nudges us to make a change.  For me, that turning point was realising that in the creative industries I loved working in, many talented people were struggling.  They were producing amazing work on the outside but inside, they were burning out, questioning themselves and feeling unsupported.

I’d spent years working in media, education and leadership roles.  I’d seen first-hand how little space there often was for reflection, growth and wellbeing.  And I’d experienced it myself - running on autopilot, pushing through but not always having the tools or structures to reset and thrive.

That’s what led me to coaching.  It gave me clarity, perspective and the kind of deep listening I hadn’t realised I needed.   Over time, I knew I wanted to offer that same space to others.  And so, Creative Reset was born - a place for creative professionals to take stock, build resilience and create sustainable success.

3 Things I Learned Along the Way

1. Notice when you’re running on autopilot.
It’s easy to get stuck in a cycle of “doing” without reflecting on why we’re doing it.  Pausing to ask yourself what’s truly important can change everything.

2. Build your own reset moments.
You don’t need a big life overhaul to feel better.  Micro-breaks, journaling or simply talking things through with a coach can help you reset before stress builds up.

3. Don’t wait for crisis.
Coaching isn’t just about fixing problems - it’s about proactively building resilience, clarity and confidence, so you’re better prepared for whatever comes your way.

For me, coaching isn’t just a career. It’s a way of helping people reconnect with themselves, their values, and their potential.

If you’re curious about how a reset could help you, I’d love to hear from you.
